1:1 BYO Apple iPad Program
Our Level 5 and 6, 1:1 BYO (Bring Your Own) Apple iPad program gives each student access to their own digital device both at home and school. The program gives students the ability to be more independent in the learning process, giving them access to thousands of resources and develops skills such as information literacy, collaboration, creativity and innovation, critical thinking, problem solving and digital literacy.
Heathmont East Primary School implements the Digital Technologies curriculum across Foundation to Level 6. Computational thinking is the main focus of this curriculum, where students develop problem solving skills when creating digital solutions, learn various programming languages (coding) to purpose-design digital solutions to solve specific problems and develop themselves as global citizens.
The Digital Technologies curriculum enables students to become confident and creative developers of digital solutions through the application of information systems and specific ways of thinking about problem solving. Students acquire a deep knowledge and understanding of digital systems, data and information and the processes associated with creating digital solutions so they can take up an active role in meeting current and future needs. At HEPS our Digital Technology program provides students with the knowledge and skills for these key focus areas:
- Computer software and apps: Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint, Google Apps for Education (now known as G-Suite), Essential Assessment, Reading Eggs & Express.
